About Us

Luvicy was the name of one of our partners' grand aunt who lived in France. Luvicy was a lovely and caring lady and she took care of our partner when she was little. She passed on in 2002 and our partner suggested this name in memory of her. We loved the name so much we didn't consider any others.

In terms of branding, you will find no more than 2 mentions of the Luvicy brand at most on our products. Our jewellery do not have any mention of our brand currently. We firmly believe that our customers are not billboard to promote our brand. Our products are there to complement our customers and nothing more, hence our minimalistic approach to branding. 

It began when 2 friends with an interest in art and handmade items decided to produce their own gifts for family and friends. What began as a hobby turned into a part-time business. In just over a year, business grew rapidly due to interest from tourists who took back our creations to their home countries. They encouraged us to setup a website to make it easier for their friends and family to purchase our items.

Now, we travel across Asia looking for local artisans to handmake items for us. Some designs are contemporary while others have a local flair to them. As much as possible, all the materials used in the making of our products are sourced locally from the individual artisans' country.

When we started, it was just the two of us and an artisan so production was limited. We usually sell out before the month's end. We've decided to expand our product line to include other accessories such as bags. We wanted a mix of minimalist contemporary designs using vegan leather and some with local inspiration using distinctively local materials such as handwoven cotton and mengkuang (screw palm or screw pine) leaves. We source from just a handful of local artisans from Malaysia and Thailand. 

Because our products are handmade, we are unable to fulfill large orders.
